This week …. a new goal. February 1, 2009

I have a new goal. And it totally scares me.

 

You see – there is something everyone knows about my husband. He LOVES to cycle! (in fact he just road in a tri team today!)

And there is something you need to know about me. I do NOT like riding at all.

OK – maybe that is a bit strong. But I do find it hard work.

 

Let’s face it tho – the town I live in is not huge. And riding around it wouldn’t be impossible. Plus it appeals to my inner hippy

We already have a bike trailer for Miss E so it is something I can do with her. It *may* mean me walking up the hills with the trailer – but hey – I know I will get stronger with time.

So this week – I am going to overcome this fear. I am going to ride my bike at least once on my own. And once towing Miss E in the bike trailer.

Oh boy!

Ice … stretching … dencorub and more … January 14, 2009

I think I have strained my left hamstring. At least that is what Paul tells me it is. To me it’s just that big muscle back there!

So I have stretched and iced and rested and stretched and iced some more. And iced and iced. Tonight I’ll be icing and resting and dencorub’ing and praying it will ease for tomorrow’s run.

I’ve just tested it out on a 40min walk. The first half with Paul and Eliana (in the pram) – the second on my own. It felt pretty good. Just some twinges at the beginning and end. I won’t wii-fit tonight for fear of straining it some more.

 

On my walk I was also thinking that I need to get a running playlist on my ipod. I love the podcasts I listen too – but now the intervals are getting longer I may be able to manage timing them – and I think my mind could wander more listening to music that I love.

The only question is … what to add?

Sunday Family Bike Ride. January 4, 2009

We used to do this a lot. Go for a bike ride on Sundays together. I miss it.

Today was much cooler than it has been so it was a great day to get out on the road. Paul towed Eliana in the bike trailer and I rode my bike.

It was lovely to get out – try something different and have fun together. And stopping for an icecream and a play on the playground made it all worthwhile. Eliana FINALLY went to the top of the playground climbing frame and did the BIG slide. You should have seen the JOY on her face! It warms my heart to see how proud she is when she learns something new!!

Thank you to the two angel girls who helped her to overcome her fears and learn something NEW and FUN!
